Heed that Mexican craving here at Comida at Binmaka Street, Quezon City. With its flavor rich servings on its menu, it surely met my gustatory satisfaction on my Mexican favorites like tacos and quesadilla. Plus, you can enjoy your favorites dishes with your pets, another pet-friendly restaurant in the metro!
Why Comida? It basically means “food” in Spanish.
Being a Kapampangan, we eat day by day with flavorful meals and our palate is used to taste-rich dishes, Comida did not fail to deliver. The owners, Mr. Karl Villaflor Ms., and Melissa Ong joined forces as they built the restaurant seeming all from scratch. According to Mr. Karl, they reused old tables from their old diner business, recycled tires to become stools from their tire business, their bar was also refurbished and the lightings are made also from scratch. The overall setup of their restaurant seems to be a mix of loft-industrial design, accented with wood details. The decision to venture to a Fil-Mex menu is influenced by the place they have been in the US – Miami, Florida. Its doors officially opened last October 2018, and now starting to gain regular customers.
According to Ms. Melissa, their ingredients are locally sourced to ensure quality and freshness. Currently, this restaurant runs with just the two of them. With Ms. Melissa dominating the kitchen and Mr. Karl at the bar. Despite their limited manpower, they are able to deliver, even on peak hours without sacrificing quality.
Thinking of holding intimate gatherings and get-togethers, you can opt here as your guests would its open-air interiors. At a minimum of Php7,500.00 (as of posting), you can rent the restaurant, with a maximum of 30 seating capacity. Now, they already accept credit card payments.
Here are the dishes we tried from their menu:
Chicken Quesadillas – I like equal portions of the meat and other fillings.
Mexican Corn – drizzled with Mexican spice and cumin
Soft Taco – my favorite among the rest. Their serving has more meat ratio, plus the sauce and salsa are two thumbs up. You have a choice of Beef, Chicken, Fish, Carnitas, and Shrimp.
Nacho Overload – perfect match with beer! Comes with hefty portions of flavorful minced beef toppings.
Salted Egg and Shrimp Pasta – surprisingly less salty. Love the mix of shrimp and salted egg yolk
Tuna Alfredo – creamy and tuna meat is tasty and not “malansa”, pasta is al dente.
Wicked Wings – Deep Fried chicken wings. The Buffalo wings is winner!
Sisig – it is better without egg – I am a Kapampangan.
Strawberry Milkshake
Cocktails we tried:
Mojito – hefty portions of lime and mint leaves. Enjoyed the balance kick of liquor, minty and citrus flavors.
Sombrero – Chocolatey goodness!
