Clark Freeport will host the 2025 Sports Tourism Forum on November 7 at the SMX Convention Center Clark, reinforcing its position as a leading sports destination in the Philippines.
Organized by the Philippine Sports Turismo Alliance, Inc. with support from Clark Development Corporation, the Department of Tourism, the Tourism Promotions Board, SMX Clark and the Bases Conversion and Development Authority, the one-day forum will bring together key figures in sports and tourism. Expected attendees include officials from national sports associations, local government units, hotel and resort executives, sports and MICE event organizers, facility managers and corporate sponsors.
The event aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s call to use sports as a driver of tourism. Under Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, the Sports Turismo Alliance has been staging a series of forums across the country to strengthen partnerships and expand sports tourism.
“The Philippines is off the starting blocks to prove itself as a great sports host country,” said Charles Lim, president and CEO of Sports Turismo Alliance, Inc. “International sporting events such as the FIBA World Cup in 2023, the ongoing FIVB World Championship and the forthcoming FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup show our capability and popularity as a sports hub.”
A lineup of international and local speakers will headline the forum. Among them are Igor Topole, president of the International Children’s Games; Maggie Hsu, sports administrator at Taiwan’s Ministry of Education; Marga M. Nograles, COO of the Tourism Promotions Board; Patrick Gregorio, chairman of the Philippine Sports Commission; Princess Galura, president and general manager of Sunrise Events Inc.; Carlo Sampan, Milo Marathon program director; and Robby Alabado, director at the Department of Tourism.
Topics on the agenda include maximizing sports facilities, developing local tournaments into national and international events, and measuring the economic, social, cultural and environmental impact of sports on host cities.
A cultural dinner and the launch of “Happening on the Green” will cap the day’s activities for all delegates.
