As part of its ongoing mission to bring essential healthcare to underserved communities, Unilab, the Philippines’ leading Filipino-owned pharmaceutical company, has emphasized the critical role of partnerships between the public and private sectors in enhancing health services across the country.
In celebration of World Diabetes Month, Unilab is set to host a series of health and wellness fairs in Pampanga’s key areas next week. These events will focus on raising awareness of diabetes and other lifestyle-related illnesses, with stops in Mabalacat City (Nov 12), City of San Fernando (Nov 13), and Porac town (Nov 14). The initiative will benefit 500 pre-identified individuals with chronic conditions, such as diabetes and hypertension, in collaboration with local health offices.
Claire Papa, Assistant Vice President and Head of External Affairs and Social Partnerships at Unilab, highlighted the company’s ongoing commitment to these efforts as part of its “Alagang Unilab” program. Speaking at KapiHann, a media forum hosted by the Pampanga Press Club at Swissôtel Clark in partnership with Hann Resorts, Papa discussed how the program works in tandem with government-supported health initiatives.
“We’ve long partnered with government programs to bolster healthcare through our augmentation initiatives,” Papa explained. “These partnerships help us tailor our services to address real community health needs, as seen in our Alagang Unilab campaign.”
The upcoming fairs will offer a range of interactive health activities, designed with festive feels or vibes to engage participants and encourage lasting healthy habits. Additionally, they also need to promote the importance of health seeking behavior to further boost the general health of the public in the long run. Unilab Foundation aims to make these events welcoming and accessible to maximize impact and ensure attendees remain engaged.
Key Benefits for Local Communities and Preidentified Participants:
- Targeted Support for Chronic Illness Management
Unilab Foundations’s thrusts on Non communicable diseases like diabetes and hypertension, especially for those already identified as at-risk, ensures that support reaches individuals who need it most. By targeting high-need patients, this initiative helps improve health outcomes for those managing chronic conditions, often with limited resources. - Strengthened Community Health Programs
By collaborating with local health offices, Unilab’s efforts complement existing healthcare infrastructures, providing much-needed additional resources and expertise. This cooperation helps enhance local health programs, creating a more robust and responsive healthcare network for long-term community benefit. - Increased Awareness and Community Engagement
The interactive format of the health fairs fosters a community-centered approach to healthcare education, empowering residents to be proactive in managing their health. These events not only provide information but also encourage community members to actively participate in maintaining their wellness.
Unilab Foundation’s initiatives demonstrate the power of public-private partnerships in making healthcare accessible, particularly to those who need it most. With its enduring commitment to community-centered healthcare, Unilab Foundation continues to be a driving force for positive change in Philippine health services.
