80 PCO Trainees Visit Soliman EC Plant in Pampanga

MEXICO, Pampanga — At least 80 pollution control officer (PCO) trainees from Alab Solutions, Inc. toured Soliman EC’s treatment plant in Brgy. Eden on February 12, 2026, gaining direct exposure to wastewater and hazardous waste treatment operations.

The visit formed part of Alab’s 40-hour PCO training program, which provides participants with on-site learning to complement classroom instruction. The program highlights coordination among private companies, environmental professionals, and regulators in promoting compliant environmental management systems.

Engr. Christian Joseph Bacani, Pollution Control Officer of Soliman EC, said firsthand observation strengthens technical understanding.

During the tour, Soliman EC, in partnership with Groon, presented the Groon Oxidation Technology, a Korean-developed system that uses low-temperature plasma to treat domestic and high-concentration industrial wastewater.

The technology enables efficient contaminant breakdown while maintaining stable operations. It also offers lower facility and maintenance costs compared to many advanced treatment systems.

Dr. Lee Inho and Dr. Hong Youngpyo, Groon executives and developers of the technology, joined the activity to explain its development and potential applications in the Philippines.

Soliman EC said it plans to deploy the system to help address growing wastewater treatment demands nationwide.

The company currently positions itself as a leading provider of septage management in Central Luzon, along with comprehensive wastewater treatment services in the region. Bacani said the firm continues to invest in globally competitive and accessible environmental solutions.

The plant visit underscored the role of technical training in strengthening environmental compliance and supporting effective septage management in Central Luzon.

Why This Matters to Tourism Establishments

For hotels, resorts, restaurants, and tourism estates across Pampanga and nearby provinces, proper wastewater systems are not optional. They are tied directly to environmental compliance, operating permits, and public trust.

As tourism activity continues to grow in Central Luzon, demand for reliable septage management in Central Luzon also increases. Accommodation providers and leisure developments generate significant wastewater volume, especially during peak travel seasons.

For travel destinations promoting eco-conscious stays, responsible wastewater handling is part of the value proposition. Behind every clean pool, landscaped garden, and fully booked resort is a system that manages waste safely and legally.
