Grab, MOVE IT, and Drivers Unite for Relief Efforts Across Luzon

When you are constantly on the move, exploring cities, hopping from one province to another, it’s easy to take for granted the people who keep the streets moving: the riders and drivers who show up rain or shine. But during the recent string of intense rains and floods across Luzon, it was their turn to receive support, and Grab and MOVE IT made sure they did.

In a heartwarming display of community spirit, Grab and MOVE IT joined forces with local driver leaders and hundreds of volunteer riders and drivers to deliver much-needed relief to flood-stricken areas across Greater Metro Manila and beyond. From Marikina to Cavite, Valenzuela to Malabon, and even as far as Pampanga, Baguio, and Olongapo, the support rolled out with speed and purpose.

Thousands of families, especially those within the Grab and MOVE IT network, received essential goods like rice, canned food, noodles, coffee, and medicines. It wasn’t just about handing out supplies; it was about showing up for their own.

I was struck by a quote from Ronald Roda, Managing Director of Grab Philippines, who said, “Our riders and drivers are the backbone of our ecosystem… Supporting them with malasakit has always been our North Star.” It’s a reminder that the gig economy isn’t just a system; it’s a community.

As someone who relies on these services when I travel, seeing this kind of solidarity gives me hope. It shows that behind the app, behind the ride, there’s a real human story. And in times of crisis, they stand strong for one another.
