The World Culinary Awards, often regarded as the “Oscars of the travel industry,” has named Angeles City, Pampanga, as Asia’s Best Emerging Culinary City Destination for 2024. This prestigious recognition comes as a proud moment for the Philippines, placing Angeles City at the forefront of global culinary excellence. Pampanga, long hailed as the Culinary Capital of the Philippines, has bested notable culinary hubs such as Hanoi, Kuala Lumpur, Kyoto, and Taipei.

As a proud Kapampangan, I am beyond thrilled to witness this recognition that elevates Pampanga’s rich culinary traditions to the world stage. This award not only highlights the exceptional talents and flavors of the Pampanga but also solidifies our province’s role in shaping the global gastronomic landscape.

This momentous achievement would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of the Department of Tourism – Region 3 Office, led by the visionary leadership of Regional Director Dr. Richard Daenos. Their dedication to promoting Pampanga’s culinary tourism and positioning it as a key player in the global food scene has truly paid off.

Angeles City’s rise to fame is a testament to its food culture—a fusion of heirloom recipes, deeply rooted in history, with contemporary innovations that spotlight the region’s agricultural abundance. From flavorful Kapampangan sisig to decadent local delicacies, Pampanga’s culinary offerings capture the soul of its people and culture. This win reflects not only the quality of our cuisine but the heart, passion, and artistry, let’s include love, that goes into every dish.

The award puts the spotlight on Pampanga as a destination where food tells a story—where every bite reveals an endless narrative of history, love, and tradition.
