The moment you walk through the floor-to-ceiling glass doors, we are greeted by a lobby that exudes glittery elegance and metallic accents. The marble-finished walls, adorned with intricate metallic decor, set the tone for what promises to be a stylish stay. Subdued warm lighting from a crystalline chandelier creates an inviting ambiance, while the floral cove ceiling decor adds a touch of natural beauty. The large floor lamps and agate stone details blend perfectly with the modern aesthetics, making the space both functional and visually appealing. The floor-to-ceiling glass wall allows natural light to flood the area, making it bright and welcoming. Direct access to the main road adds to the practicality of this location, ensuring that your stay is as convenient as it is stylish.

During our two-night stay, we were assigned a fully air-conditioned standard room on the seventh floor. Room 704 was nothing short of impressive, with its two single beds offering excellent back and shoulder support. You never had to worry about a bad back or frozen shoulder during your stay. The room also featured a flat-screen TV, a coffee and tea facility, blackout drapes, and plenty of power outlets—a crucial feature for today’s tech-savvy traveler. The modern toilet and bath, complete with a hot shower, were clean and well-maintained. A working table with a single chair provided a convenient spot for catching up on work, while the spacious wardrobe offered ample storage for our belongings. The room was designed with both comfort and functionality in mind, making it an ideal choice for any traveler.

Whether you’re lounging in your room, working at the desk, or even taking a shower, the connection remains stable and fast. Dining at Anton’s Cebuano Chinese Restaurant

Located on the second floor, Anton’s Cebuano Chinese Restaurant offers a unique dining experience with an overview of M. Velez Street. Under the expertise of Executive Chef Jay Adamos, who honed his skills in Cantonese cuisine at Shang Palace, the restaurant serves up some of the best Chinese-Cantonese dishes in Cebu. Our farewell lunch, hosted by Hotel Manager Jessica M. Suson, was a delightful experience featuring steamed siu mai, spring rolls, three-mushroom broccoli, and scallop fried rice. Chef Jay’s 23 years of experience at Shangri-La Mactan shines through in every dish, making Anton’s a must-visit for food lovers.

Taste Review: The siu mai outshined with its bitey and meaty texture and firm wrapper. The filling exudes layers of umami and seafood flavors that leave a relishing aftertaste. I personally chose to pair it with their black vinegar and chili paste personally prepared by Chef Jay. Spring Rolls came in next with its hyper-crunchy and crispy fried wrap and a heavenly meaty core. It was pork, yes, but I was able to down many pieces since the pork flavors that my senses find repelling are devoured by the seasonings and spices that played well into an umami-rich and playful textures in my mouth. Ms. Suson said that I would miss half of my life if I didn’t try the Scallop Fried Rice. Yes, she was absolutely sure about that. Upon serving, the whiffs of elemental and ethereal garlicky aroma wafted my nostrils triggering my hunger center. The first spoonful of it unleashed the nostalgic feel of homecooked sinangag but this time with tender and fresh scallops. Adding more punch of umami flavors, the three-mushroom dish was a stunner. I tried all of the mushrooms in a spoonful and, hell yeah! Rich and bold flavors danced like the ballerina quartets in Swan Lake.

Breakfast at Amethyst Boutique Hotel is served at the same restaurant located within the hotel. Upon check-in, guests receive breakfast coupons, which they present each morning to enjoy a wide array of delicious options. The buffet offers a mix of Filipino and Chinese dishes, catering to various tastes and preferences.
