Defining as one of the crowd drawers in the province of Laguna, the Anilag Festival Streetdance garnered 11 municipal contingents bearing their respective town festivals battled with flamboyant and modern expression of choreographies and festival narratives in which Cavinti emerged as the Champion. The winner showcased their Sambalilo Festival with colorful unique hats from giant pandan tree leaves as the central axis of the town’s annual festivities messaging. The overall performance beats with continuous synergy from the music and sustained emblematic energy that makes their entry a sensational of the night pulling an unquestionnable win. The eleven contingents all performed with winning gestures, eye catching props and contrasting backdrops plus their costume details speaks the depth of the Lagunense’s creative motivation.
The Los Baños contingent featuring the Bañamos Festival bagged the Second place with their almost perfect synchronous execution. The color palettes representing the elemental water and nature’s green played a wonderful factor in their overall performance. The Bañamos Festival celebrates the natural occurring hot spring bath at the foothills of Mt. Makiling and the town’s rich history, vibrant culture and economic activities.
The Third Place is awarded to the Victoria contingent showcasing the Itik Festival made obvious with depiction of larger-than-life duck eggs as headdress and eye-catchy wingspans. The festival streetdance props and costume of this contingent features well-coordinated earth color tones application expressed in a pleasing style.
The Anilag Festival is regarded as the unifying provincial festival that showcase the cultural and harvest celebration of Laguna province every first week of March. The week-long celebration includes activities such as Colorful Float Parade, Trade Fairs, Pageantries, Municipal Booth Contest and many more, with the capital town of Sta. Cruz as the main venue.
My heartfelt thanks to the Department of Tourism – CALABARZON office through Regional Director Marites T. Castro and Tourism Operations Officer I Lester SJ Uriarte for making a great experience for content creators to feature the Anilag Festival.
