Direct Spanish translation to English means “Cold Mountain”. From the name itself, it brands itself as a destination perched on a natural high-altitude mountain terrain cloaked eternally with cool and fresh mountain breeze. The mountain resort itself is already a grand view deck to enjoy the sweeping views of the Mt. Apo ranges and hillside. Take advantage of its multi-leveled amenities with lots of balcony space and alfresco halls for your dining and lounging needs. Both day and overnight experiences are available for guests to choose from. To add a premium feel, most of the resort grounds are covered with synthetic green turf. A sense of stepping on green grass truly extends a feel of mother nature.
We got excited to know that we would spend two nights at the Montefrio Garden Resort. It meant more time to explore and maximize the features of the resort. Here is our experience:
Upon our arrival, we were greeted by the jolly team and had refreshing cool towels. Alighted from our respective van, we were escorted to their function halls where we shared their welcome snacks serving their unique pizza with vegetables, assorted pannacotta, hot cocoa, and native coffee to soothe the cold afternoon. Live entertainment was provided. While we enjoyed our snacks, we were handed our room keys. After finishing, we got our luggage at their reception desk and fortunately, our assigned villa room was right beside it.
Villa Room
The Villa Room features a unique concave ceiling style, an almost feel to a Hobbit house from a famous movie franchise. The color palette of the room is of wood-to-earth tone colors. It has a double bed and a single bed, this time with an extra mattress setup for the supposed third guest, but later on transferred to a different room. It has thick brown fleece blankets enough to comfort us against the naturally cold weather. It has two plush pillows plus two more throw pillows which I find helpful for my back support. The mattress has good support as well.
The room also fits a hanging rack and a luggage rack plus an organizer. One of the hooks is broken, and not replaced yet. I reported it to the Reception Desk for their action before the next guest. It has a flat-screen TV with many channels, a coffee facility and lots of power outlets. They also provided at least two bottles of water for each guest and separate glasses as well.
The private toilet and shower feature a translucent door, hence, be careful about being fully naked behind it. The hot shower worked however took time to reach the desired water temperature. The toilet has a working flush but with a low-flow bidet. They also provided basic toiletries such as bath soap, shampoo, and a toothbrush set included in the guest kit. Ventilation is managed by the ceiling fan since the weather is naturally cool year-round. The villa room also has a gated balcony with a round table and chairs.
The window is covered by black-out drapes and a sliding window. The walls and doors are not soundproofed since I can hear conversations from the other side during the dead of the night.

EXPERIENCE REVIEW
MEAL & WAIT SERVICE: I do not have any complaints about their meal service. All meals are served on time. The F&B team observed sanitary protocols and was responsive to our requests. The bartender at the pool bar is also friendly and accommodating.
IN-ROOM SERVICE: They have a responsive team when it comes to room requests. We are unable to operate properly the TV set and cable box. A few minutes after we sent notice to the reception, a jolly staff knocked on our doors and successfully carried out our request.
CHECK-IN & OUT SERVICE: The systematic management they applied during our ingress and egress is acceptable. They have quick and nimble staff during our egress too.
SECURITY SERVICE: They have a 24-hour security team manning the gate. The security guards, albeit looking strict, have a good demeanor with guests. They are proactive in assisting during our ingress and egress.
