A must-experience in the City of Bacoor is to visit during the Bakood Festival and this year is the 352nd founding anniversary. A great way of celebrating to experience the vibrant and iconic culture of the province of Cavite. One of the festival highlights is the marching band parade and field show at the Bacoor Oval Track which will leave you in awe of the Filipino’s artistic and musical talent. Contingents from the CALABARZON region and National Capital Region filled the streets of Bacoor with music, dance, fun, and colors. The Bakood Festival is a yearly celebration in honor of the town’s patron saint, St. Michael the Archangel.
One of the most remarkable aspects of Bacoor’s cultural identity is its distinction as the Marching Band Capital of the Philippines duly recognized by the Duterte Administration under Proclamation No. 939. The town has a deep-rooted tradition of producing exceptional marching bands that have garnered recognition not only in their province but also throughout the nation. The said proclamation recognized the pivotal role of marching bands in different historic events around the country. It is mentioned that during the historic declaration of the country’s independence, a marching band played the National Anthem during this momentous event of the entire Philippine political history.
After the 47th contingent finally made their way into the stadium, the Program Formalaties commenced with messages from their district Congresswoman, Mayor Strike. Ms. Marites Castro, Regional Director of the Department of Tourism – CALABARZON introduced the Guest Speaker, the Tourism Chief, Ms. Christina Frasco.
During the main festival parade, the streets came alive with colorful costumes of every majorette dancer in their modernized unique execution of costumes, and marching bands that resonate with infectious energy. This vibrant spectacle allows both residents and visitors to connect with the town’s heritage in a captivating and truly entertaining way. One in particular that gained the crowd’s admiration inside the Bacoor Oval Track is the Banda Dos Kabataan from Angono, Rizal, since of their quirky execution as they strut their red and black Nutcracker-inspired costume.
More than a grand spectacle of showmanship, the Bacoor LGU has placed kiosks within the vicinity of the Oval Track showcasing the City’s local products. Among on display are Tahong Chips which is abundant near the shores of the city. Also, there are woven products like wide-brim hats and other sweet treats. A must-visit while in the area and the perfect spot to purchase take-home treats. Additionally, your simple gesture to spur more microeconomic activity.

Visiting this season of festival is part of the Philippine Experience Flagship Program of the Department of Tourism with the CALABARZON Tourism Regional Office at the helm of this pivotal program.
