Delightful dining at XI RESTAURANT | Unraveling The Flavors of Cantonese Cuisine at Hilton Clark Sun Valley Resort

Savour the amazing and best Cantonese and Chinese Flavors right at the heart of an oasis of Luxury – Hilton Clark’s XI RESTAURANT. Offering a gastronomic voyage through the heart of Cantonese cuisine, Xi Restaurant presents a delightful fusion of traditional flavors and modern but heartfelt service that certainly deserves a five-star classification and rating.

Xi Restaurant is located at the same level with the Front Office, sharing the same reception with Olive All Day Dining Restaurant. Its dining hall features a modern yet homey ambience with a breathtaking view of Clark, thanks to its floor-to-ceiling glass wall feature. It has a private function room that can hold approximately up to 40 pax comfortably.

Knowing that I am in a Cantonese and Chinese Restaurant, my mind kept racing inside for another gastronomic goal, the Chinese Dumplings. The team is assigned to its private dining hall featuring two large round tables and featuring large turntables perfect for sharing the dishes we are going to literally devour momentarily.

After choosing seats, we are served another round of refreshing juice, with the electrolytes that I need. Here are the dishes served during the familiarization tour:

Appetizer:

  • Crispy Fish Skin, Salted Egg – with that impeccable crunch and texture partnered with the spiritous flavours of salted egg is indeed a gastronomic heaven on my palate.

Dim Sum:

  • Siew Mai, Hargao, Shanghai Spring Roll, Spinach Dumpling – these are my heavenly favourites and truly catapulted my excitement to the stratosphere. With pieces bursting with Cantonese goodness and flavours, I truly could down one order per dim sum. The Wrappers and filling are made and steamed to perfection, and I love the marrying of the dip flavours with these truly mini rolls of delights.

Soup:

  • Hot and Sour, Seafood Soup – met my expectations but did not really consume it all since I am prohibited to eat spicy.

Main Course:

  • Beef Tenderloin, Asparagus and Black Pepper Sauce – the beef slices are indeed tender and tasty, with no funky aftertaste, the Pepper character is well balanced not to throw off the Asparagus flavours.
  • Fish Fillet, Thai Style – the crunch and texture befit with the drizzled sauce and each bite boosts with the deep sea goodness without the funky fish character. 
  • Wok Fried French Beans, Minced Pork – the French beans came with the right bite, crunch, texture, flavour and colour, blended well with the pork bits.
  • Yeung Chow Fried Rice – the al dente Asian steamed rice absorbed the fusion of flavours of the combined vegetable, aromatics, seafood and meat elements creating this outburst of truly legitimate Yeung Chow. 

Desert:

  • Chilled Creamy, Mango Sago and Pomelo – in love with the marrying of the citrusy and tropical fruit flavours drenched in a creamy sauce and texture with those minute opaque tapioca balls.

While being smothered with these Asian gourmet delights, the team proceeded with their presentation about Hilton Clark, which gave me more vital information and details about their amenities, service and features. After which, we have a surprise guest in the person of Clarky! Their cute plumpy and jumpy pig character that waves to all the guests its encounters. Clarky’s presence sends a lightening mood after a quick formal discussion engagement. After resting a bit and having a quick chit-chat with the rest of the team, we headed to our guided tour around the sprawling hotel resort of Hilton Clark Sun Valley. They also added a question-and-answer game at truly engaged us and an opportunity to win Hilton merchandise – which I won!
