TARLAC – July 15, 2023, marks another grand and most coveted obstacle race event by Spartan PH, where sheer passion, willpower and tenacity command the day, the very core to achieve the challenging yet rewarding race finish. A day of sweat and toil but nothing beats the euphoria and ecstasy of completing the challenges – a truly rewarding and memorable experience for all participants of various capabilities, soon as the medal finish is swung on your necks.

The New Clark City Athletics Stadium is certainly one of the viable and strategic locations to hold such a Class 1 Certificated race event like the Spartan Stadion. The 20,000 seater stadium, the expansive warm-up tracks, the art deco Aquatics Center and the nearby Athlete’s Village are a few of the many amenities and facilities that would truly support every aspect of the grand race event, both from the organizer and participant perspective. Also, participants can experience the stadium’s facilities like the athlete’s shower rooms and the bunk. Some Spartan Race Ambassadors from Thailand, China, Australia, US and European countries would be present during this Stadion leg.

A bigger and bolder obstacle race course is expected in this second Spartan Stadion at the Athletics Stadium as the track to maximize the branding of the New Clark City, more improvements based on the first holding of the Spartan Stadion here at the New Clark City. It is expected to be one of the fast-phased leg of the Spartan Race- for trained and experienced racers, they can finish in less than two hours.

Lots of functional fitness obstacles are placed strategically along the race track to add challenge. Also, the obstacle gauntlet would be a surprise as more obstacles are grouped together prior to crossing the finish line.

Ms. Maricar Gay Savella-Villamil, OIC Public Affairs Department of BCDA, welcomed all the participants of the press con. She defined that being a “Spartan” should have great courage and discipline, a term commonly used in sports clubs and relevant organizations. In 2010, Spartan Race was born in the US. Ms. Villamil as well highlighted that New Clark City is at par with other iconic sports stadiums in the world, and would truly give pride to all Spartan Stadion Participants.

Cash and special prizes from partners, finisher’s medal, finisher’s shirt and trophy await each category of podium finish. The rest of the finishers would receive their own medal and shirt. Every victories would never go home empty-handed.

Dr. Marc Laurenze Celis, General Manager and Managing Partner, Spartan Race Philippines mentioned that Obstacle Course Race (OCR) is built for Filipinos as evidenced by participants from all over the country partaking in Spartan to beat brains and brawn. Spartan Stadion is a 5km race to test strength and endurance with 21 Obstacles to overcome, both by the mind and body. Dr. Celis also mentioned that Spartan Race would be not for the faint of heart but for the ones who embody the virtues of a Spartan – “no retreat no surrender “. He also thanked BCDA as the venue partner.

Ms. Micca de Joya, RACE DIRECTOR of Spartan Race PH highlighted that the race track will utilize mostly the whole stadium, there would be more stairs, more Stadion obstacles inside the track, and of course great experience, and feel like a national athlete as you run inside a world-class and state of the art sports facility.
