The towering limestone mountains standing precariously over the gentle and sweeping rice fields with sleepy towns and villages of the municipality dotting the place. DESTINATIONS IN CARAMOAN
Mt. Caglago – situated at Brgy. Tabgon, the summit features a huge statue of the Virgin Mary and a small chapel with the commanding view of the sea. In able to reach the view deck, one must ascend through the long fight of stairs that is more than a hundred steps, I lost count after 200+. The jump-off point is easy located, there is an obvious welcome arch along the road.
St. Michael Archangel Church – located in the towncenter of Caramoan, the facade is easily recognizable because of its unique orangey-red hue brick walls.
Pitogo Pebble Beach – features an unusual pebble beach, which sizes are larger than your palms, connecting the mainland to the picturesque hilly part that you can easily hike. It is prohibited to take stones or rocks from this beach as a souvenir.
Hunongan Cove – a private and seemingly beach resort tucked between towering limestone mountains. The beach features creamy fine sand and low receding beach area perfect for families. The resort offers water activities like kayaking. There is actually a swing installed above the shallow waters, an added feature perfect for your social media worthy posts. Cabanas and villas are all fronting the beach, facing the eastern horizon, if you love witnessing the sunrise. Should you wish to have an amazing private beach time with your significant others, this is the place to be in Caramoan.
Matukad Island – features an approximately a half kilometer of fine white sand beach and tall limestone walls. A picturesque lagoon is located at the center of the island, however, the need to traverse an approximate five storey high limestone wall just to got there. It will only take less than 20 minutes to scramble your way up to the limestone wall and enjoy the commanding of the beautiful white sand beach below and the lagoon on the other side.
Lahos Island – features creamy fine sand and interesting limestone formations from both sides. Its northern and southern shores are connected giving you a choice of which side to enjoy.
Tugawe Cove Resort – the most amazing resort I have set foot in Caramoan. We are warmly welcomed by their staff as our boat moored at their private beach. Upon arrival, you will be escorted via cart to bring you up to the reception area. The road has a quite steep incline and you will pass by its own helipad. The reception area features an open-air room with chic seats and the reception table with the awesome view of the sea. Before our brief tour of the resort, we had our welcome snack and drinks of their version of Banana Maruya with cheese and cold blue lemonade.
The reception area features an open hall that offers panoramic views of the sea. It is located beside the first infinity pool, that is five feet at its deepest edge. You can see the nearby island and western shores of Catanduanes Island. This infinity pool can leverage the view of a famous resort in Sipalay, Negros Occidental.
The villas and cabanas are located from atop hill down to the beach level. Since the resort is situated on a multilevel terrain, the seniors can take advantage of the cable car facility to hoist them up from near the beach level to the reception level. The cable car can comfortably seat eight passengers, however, runs very slowly but surely and safely. The rooms are grouped on Hilltop, Hillside,
At the lagoon level, there are family cabanas above it and water activities like kayaking and paddling can be accessed conveniently. Should your body calls for a saltwater wash, the beach area is just a short walk away. The amazingly clear waters would surely invite you for a dip!
The second infinity pool is located near the beach level and is beside the lagoon.
All of their rooms feature 32-inch 21 channel LCD HDTV, Hot and Cold Shower, Complimentary Bottled Water, Complimentary Coffee and are Fully Airconditioned. Please note that all rooms are non-smoking also. Room prices start at Php6,510 and up. (Prices may change without prior notice)
