DAINTY RESTAURANTS: a nostalgic feast

I have known about Dainty since I was a toddler and had grown up seeing this restaurant on almost everyday commute.  It was only when I was in my college years that I enjoyed it sumptuous dishes. It is still intact in my memory when my college group went to visit Dainty for a lunch celebration after we passed on one of our major school requirements. Hence, whenever I dine here, good memories and good food are what I instantly associate with Dainty.

Now, I am back again with Dainty, to review its dishes – never in my life that I was served this plenty of food – all good food!

Steamed Lapu Lapu in Oyster Sauce

The Steamed Lapu Lapu in Oyster Sauce came in surprise – from what I thought to be quite salty, became to have a balanced saltiness and umami flavors. The fish meat is tender and tasty and you can actually fillet it using chopsticks.

Let’s go with the dumplings – they are steamed to perfection and full in meaty flavor. The Siopao bun is soft and moist, and  the filling really flavorful. The dumplings do not have that usual taste of flour, but that meaty flavor.

Squid Sisig – HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

According to Ms. Brenda Mitchell, one of the dishes they want you to try is the Sisig Squid. Because of the squids natural bland color, the dish may not be that inviting – wait until they pour the sauce! As the smoke from the sizzling platter carrying the perfect mix of squid, chicken liver, onion and butter aroma would get the attention of your hunger center in your brain – triggering that salivating action in your mouth. To share, actually writing about this makes my mouth really water and tummy go rumbling. Who would not like the famous sisig but this time, meat of the sea – squid? I would say, visit Dainty and give this one a try I you have not yet.
